Raised by a decorated Wichita Police Department officer, Lieutenant Espinoza's respect for and commitment to public service was ingrained from a young age. His career path was shaped by a pivotal event: his father's shooting in 1992. Joining the Wichita Police Department in 1993, Lt. Espinoza emerged as a standout leader, earning a spot among 12 selected officers for a Drive-by Shooting Task Force.
Lieutenant Espinoza's leadership skills shone during his roles in various specialized units and as a key officer during significant investigations. Honored with the Bronze Award from the Kansas Chiefs of Police, he's known for his exemplary arrest of an armed bomber and contributions to high-profile investigations, including the BTK serial killer case and the Carr Brother serial killers' arrest. As the former Police Information Officer, he fostered community relations and ensured accurate communication between the department, the media, and the public. He has since become a dedicated educator on enhancing awareness in society.
